this moment

i will forever cherish it and hold it

i wish i could freeze time

and stay in this mind

how did i get to be in this second?

this one i thought

i’d never have

for in this moment

the birds are singing

the sun is shining

and the trees are swaying

this moment

will forever be in my memory

even when

i’m a ghost of me

for just these seconds

there are clear skies

and—sure—maybe i fought mental battles to survive

but the storm has rolled away

maybe not permanently

but for now

it’s gone

and i am in this moment

with people who aren’t so bad

if only i’d have noticed sooner

how bright the sun could be

how light my heart could feel

and how much i love the world

the grass is always greener

until the storm comes back in

and soon enough

this moment will be gone

but i still remember

every detail

i make sure i observe

every last word

that is spoken to me

so that forever

i can remember

this memory
